Hello friends, strangers, freaks, nerds, punks, buds, mutants and true believers.

This adorable Elmo video was made 4 years ago by a documentary filmmaker named Steve Rogers.

We met 4 years ago when he interviewed me for documentary called “Given the Power”, which Elmo kindly contributed too, and an online Web series titled “Driving Jersey”   (Click here to see the Driving Jersey trailer/preview)

Steve had been funding “Driving Jersey” mostly out of pocket and putting together episodes as he was able. Then last year Driving Jersey was accepted by PBS!   That’s not all. Last year Driving Jersey was nominated for an Emmy Award!

Oh. And this was our competition in the New Approaches to Daytime Entertainment category.

1. “What If…”  An “An All My Children, “One Life to Live” and “General Hospital” web series, ABC.

2. “The Bold and the Beautiful,” CBS.

3. “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” Syndicated.

4. “Half of Us,” MTVU.

No. We didn’t get the statue of the gold angel with lightning bolt wings holding…um. What the heck is it holding?

Anyway they had a nice trip to CA, slept on their friends floor and screamed like maniacs when the name “Driving Jersey” was announced. Angelina Jolie was amused.

So now Steve gets to produce a regular monthly series! :-D
Unfortunately this means Steve has to produce a regular monthly series! <:-O

He can’t financially afford that kind of production. And PBS isn’t exactly
rolling in money, plus there’s no corporate sponsorship and from what I hear someone’s put a hit on Big Bird! http://170millionamericans.org/

It’s been going well. I’d like to thank the 310 people who contributed a dollar each over the last 3 days!!!

OK, that’s a lie. It was 4 people collectively but 96,862 One Dollar contributions between now and Thursday November 21st would be truly awesome.

As bad as I am at promoting myself, Steve is worse by far, so I’m taking the reigns and spreading the word, drumming up support and maybe guilt tripping folks.

But for now I’ll let you know that the theme for the next 4 Driving Jersey episodes is “The American Dream.” The first  broadcasts in November.

Also There will be a Driving Jersey Movie Night on October 18th at the Stafford Township Arts Center to show two episodes from the project on the big screen.

There’s a show/fund raiser at The Saint in Asbury Park in November (date to be announced) and another at The Count Basie Theater in Red Bank, NJ.
